Sand Sort: Color Puzzle Game

There's a small but very specific genre of puzzle game built around the simple satisfaction of pouring one liquid into another - water sort, color sort, the
family of games that show up in every mobile app store. Sand Sort: Color Puzzle Game takes that idea and swaps the liquid for grainy, weighted sand. It sounds like a trivial change. It's
not. Sand pours differently than water - it stacks, it piles up unevenly, it spills with a satisfying scatter sound - and that one shift in physics gives the whole genre a fresh tactile
feel.
The puzzles themselves work the way you'd expect: each bottle starts with layers of mixed colors, and your job is to combine matching colors across containers until every bottle holds one
solid color. You can only pour same-color sand on top of same-color sand, which constrains the order of moves more than it first appears. Early levels are forgiving - three or four
bottles, two colors. Later levels stack five or six colors across cramped containers and force you to think several moves deep before committing.
It's the kind of game that fits the white space in your day - waiting for coffee, stuck in a queue, decompressing before bed. There's no time pressure, no fail states beyond getting stuck,
and no aggressive monetization gating the puzzles. Just clean, color-coded sorting against a soft palette. If you like Two Dots or any of the calmer match-3 games, you'll find a home
here.
Tips & Strategy
Always plan the endgame before your first pour - count how many of each color exist and which bottle is going to hold each one. Half the difficulty in later levels
comes from finishing in a corner you didn't mean to be in. Empty bottles are gold; protect them. They're the only place you can pour any color, so wasting an empty one too early on a
one-layer commit is how levels get stuck. When you have two bottles with the same top color but different stacks underneath, pour the smaller stack onto the larger one, never the reverse -
it preserves your option to expand later. And if you genuinely get stuck, the reset button is fast; some levels are easier to restart than to recover.
Our Take
Sand Sort hits exactly the brief it sets - relaxing, easy to pick up, slightly more thoughtful than its mobile-app peers thanks to the sand physics. The art style is
gentle on the eyes and the soundscape stays out of your way. It's not the kind of puzzle game that'll demand a long session or have you sketching solutions on paper, but as a low-stakes
mental break it's quietly excellent. The progression of bottle shapes and unlocks keeps it visually fresh past the point where similar games go stale.
