About Strategy Games

Strategy in browser games covers a wider range than the genre label suggests. It includes traditional turn-based tactics, real-time city builders, resource-management sims, tower defense, deckbuilders, and slower-paced puzzle games that lean on planning more than reflex. The connecting thread is that the game asks you to think ahead - sometimes two moves, sometimes twenty. Browser strategy games face a specific design tension: they need to be playable in short sessions, but they often want to be deep. The good ones resolve this by either making short sessions self-contained (a tower defense round, a deckbuilder run, a single battle in a tactics game) or by saving your progress reliably so you can dip in and out without losing your position. The bad ones force long sessions and lose you to a closed tab. We curate here for games where the strategic decisions feel real - meaning the right choice is non-obvious and the wrong choice has consequences - without requiring an evening's commitment. Most of our picks are session-friendly. Some are daily-puzzle in spirit. A few are deeper sandboxes for when you want to settle in. None of them lean on slot-machine mechanics dressed as strategy.
